Calculating Semester & Final Averages

To determine SEMESTER AVERAGES, each quarterly average will be multiplied by two and the semester exam will be counted once. The total will then be divided by 5 to determine the final average. See the example below.

Quarter 1 Average : 87 (x2) = 174
Quarter 2 Average:  91 (x2) = 182
Semester Exam:      93 (x1) = 93
Total # of Points:     449 (divide by 5)
Semester Average:   89.8 rounds to 90

To determine the FINAL AVERAGE for the school year, each semester average is added and the total will be divided by 2. See the example below.

Semester 1 Average: 90
Semester 2 Average: 93
Total # of Points:    183 (divide by 2)
Final average:         91.5 rounds to 92
