Things to Know English III/IV
Regular English III/IV

Grading:  Homework/daily work: 50%
              Tests/Projects:            50%

Vocabulary: Online with Membean. Two 15 minute sessions done in class on Wednesday and Friday. One session done on student's own time.  Test every Wednesday. Test link active for 24 hours.  Must be done on own time before test window closes even if student is absent.

Bellringers:  Done daily.  Corrections done in class daily.  Turned in on Friday.  One of the five days will be chosen at random to be graded.  If you are absent, be sure to write the date and the word absent for the day you missed.  If you have not done so and that is the day selected for grading, you will receive a 0 for the week. If you did write the date and the word absent, then another day will be chosen for your grade of the week.  Bell ringers, for this reason, do NOT have to be made up.

Late Work:    1 day late - -30 points
                      2 days late - -50 points
3 days late- Work must be turned in but no credit will be given.

Missed Tests:   It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to schedule the missed test.  I will not chase them down.  If you are absent only 1 day, you MUST make up the test the day you return either before school, after school, or during homeroom.  Failure to do so will result in a late work penalty.

Retests:   It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to arrange to take a retest.  The retest must be taken within 1 week of the original test.  Failure to do so will result in not being able to retake the test. The highest grade that can be earned on a retest is 70.

Research Paper:   The research paper will be a joint effort between the English department and Social Studies.  The grades assigned will be a mixture of daily and test grades. The senior research paper will be written in the fall while the junior research paper will be written in the spring.  Social Studies will grade the final product for content; English will grade writing. Both departments will take research process grade.
