It's a GREAT day to be a Bulldog!
January 11, 2018
We are already through the first semester of the 2017-2018 school year! Our students and staff have performed magnificently. Staff and students are working hard to be the very best they can be. As I stop in classrooms, I get the pleasure of witnessing rigorous instruction from teachers and eager learners in the students every day. It is inspiring to see the high standards that staff and students place on themselves at Edgewood High School.
On the first day of school, I asked the students to make decisions everyday based on the three words: CLASS, RESPECT, and ENTHUSIASM. We should ask ourselves, “Does this decision show that I am a Class person?” “Does it show Respect for myself, my family, my school, and my community?” “Do I go about my life with Enthusiasm for whatever I do?” I am convinced that Edgewood staff and students must have been using this mantra long before I suggested it. This kind of Class, Respect and Enthusiasm is the Bulldog Way! After only a few months here, I know it is the only way that Bulldogs know how to do things. I am so blessed to be a part of all that is happening in Edgewood.
This part of the school year can be a grind as the weather is cold and cloudy and students get few days off before Spring Break. Please check your student’s grades weekly on our parent portal. If you are not familiar with the parent portal, contact the High School Office for assistance. Feel free to contact your student’s teacher at any time. When students know their parents are informed, they pay close attention to their academic responsibilities. Let’s work together to help all Edgewood children fulfill their potential.
Be Well and God Bless!

A little about me:
I grew up on a Wisconsin farm, worked construction and served nine years in the Army before I became an educator. Amery, Wisconsin is where I spent the first 13 years of my education career. My teaching background is PE, Health, Driver Education, and Coaching. I served as interim principal and assistant principal at Amery High School also. Before arriving at Edgewood, I spent three years as principal at Boys Ranch High School in Boys Ranch, Texas.
Our son, Mitch, started the family migration to Texas in 2007 when he moved to the Dallas area to take a job as a power lineman. He is now a lineman supervisor at Farmers’ Electric Cooperative in Greenville. His wife, Jacklyn is a surgery nurse in Rowlett. They are the proud parents of Madi who is 25 months old and has her grandparents wrapped around her finger. Needless to say, Madi had more than a little to do with our desire to move out of the Panhandle and near DFW. Our daughter, Terri, loves Dallas so moved there in 2011. She works at the corporate offices of JC Penney in purchasing and planning. Mary is my bride of 37 years. Mary is a para-professional at Edgewood Intermediate School and has a background in medical coding.
Besides going to EHS events and spending time with family, I enjoy woodworking, metal fabricating, fixing anything, and working in the yard. My two favorite tools are my tractor and chainsaw. At some point I hope to resume hunting and fishing which is where some of my fondest childhood memories originated.
