Class Overview
All fourth grade students will have a concentrated 150 minutes of reading instruction daily.  We will use a variety of resources that allow each student to practice their reading strategies and skills.

Students are encouraged to participate.  A weekly participation grade will be recorded.

Grading Policy

Homework is generally assigned when work is not completed during class time, as a reinforcement for skills learned during class time.  Homework assignments, as well as assignments given during class, are to be completed and submitted on time.  Late work will be accepted, to a point, but may receive a grade deduction as indicated:
1 day late- thirty points (70 will be the highest possible grade)

2 days late- fifty points (50 will be the highest possible grade)

More than 2 days- No work will be accepted. Such work will receive a zero

*Practice passages are due every WednesdayStudents may correct all failing practice/homework papers for a better grade.

Remember, a participation grade will be recorded weekly.

Reading Reminder:

Our goal is for every child to develop a love of reading.  To become a fluent reader one must practice as much as possible.  Our students are assigned to 2 times per week for at least 30 minutes each time outside of the school day.  Your child will have a reading log to keep up with for the nine weeks grading period to record what was read.

Please remember to take time to review their vocabulary during the week.

Thank you so much for reading with your child!
