EISD Safety and Security
Edgewood ISD is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff. We know students who feel safe at school are able to reach their full potential both academically and socially.
While our focus is on preventing and mitigating as many issues as we can, we also want our students and staff to be prepared to respond in case an emergency situation arises.
The following is a list of safety and security measures already in place:
- Employ two full time police officers
- Implemented the Guardian Program
- Increased security cameras for complete coverage
- Fencing and Secure Gates at each of the building entrances without a vestibule
- Employ the Raptor System
- Purchase and implemented the Raptor Alert for the entire district and coordinate with local law enforcement
- Shatter resistance film on all entrance doors
- Lock boxes at all campus main entry doors
- Buzzer/Intercom entrance systems at all campuses
- Anonymous reporting system (STOPit)
- Access control system on entrance doors
- Increased lighting at night across the district
- GO Bags for every classroom
- PD on ALICE training
- Additional Safety and Security Consultant to continually assess the district
