USDA DISCRIMINATION FORM AND INSTRUCTIONS

Edgewood ISD Student Meal Charge Policy

Edgewood ISD has established a meal charge policy for students who do not have money on their account or did not bring money to pay for breakfast or lunch. Students may pay for meals with cash, check, or with a credit or debit card on the district website at www.edgewood-isd.net under My School Bucks.

1.  When a student has reached $15 in charges, a letter will be sent home in the mail to the student and parents. A phone call will also be made to the parents.

2. If charges are not paid within the week, a 2nd letter will be sent home in the mail for grades 6th-12th and in folders/backpacks for grades PK-5th the following week. A 2nd phone call will also be made and an email will be sent to the parents, if provided.

3. If charges are not paid within the week of the 2nd phone call, then students will receive an alternate meal. The alternate meal will consist of:  a vegetable, a whole grain, a fruit, and choice of milk.

4. The campus principal will talk with the student before meal time if an alternate meal will be provided. Students will continue to receive an alternate meal until all charges have been paid in full.

5. Additional letters will be mailed home and phone calls will be made until the student has all charges paid. Students will not be allowed to purchase snacks when they have lunch charges. The student will be able to continue to charge once all steps above are exhausted.
