WEATHER UPDATE

Edgewood ISD is closely monitoring the weather as it moves through the area.  As of 11:30 a.m. we will not have an early dismissal. At this time, buses will run after school as regularly scheduled. However, if you would like to pick up your child from school early, please know that you may do so without your child receiving an unexcused absence.  Please follow normal campus check-out procedures.
Huett Signs to Play Baseball
Edgewood ISD would like to congratulate Senior, K Huett,  on signing to play college baseball. Huett has signed to play with Vernon College, located in Vernon, Texas.  Vernon College is in the NJCAA Division I level of college baseball.  Huett is the son of Jennifer Huett and Kelton Melton.

Cheer Parent Meeting Reminder
Parents of students trying out for cheerleader or mascot, please remember that the mandatory meeting was postponed to February 26th in the High School Library at 7:00 PM. 

Cheer tryout packets are due in the office before NOON on February 27th.
Edgewood Softball Tournament Canceled
The Edgewood Softball Tournament scheduled for February 26 - 28 has been canceled.
Edgewood STAAR Newsletter
The Edgewood STAAR is an informational newsletter created to inform parents regarding the state tests that their child will be responsible for passing. The newsletter includes the format of the test, the items that will be tested, the passing standard for each test, and resources that parents may utilize to help prepare their child for the tests. We hope that this newsletter is beneficial to both parents and students. Thank you for helping our district work to prepare our students for the future.

Cheer Tryouts
Cheer Tryout Packets were released to students on February 17th.  The packets include the release forms.  Please note that this year, there will be a parent meeting that is mandatory prior to tryouts. Two meeting dates have been assigned to try to accommodate all parties involved.  

The meetings are Sunday, Feb. 22nd, at 3:00 PM and Monday, Feb. 23rd, at 7:30 PM.  Forms are due back in the office prior to NOON on Friday, Feb 27th.  Material will be learned from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM Tuesday through Thursday (March 3rd - March 5th) with tryouts being held March 6th.

Meeting scheduled for February 23rd was postponed due to weather to February 26th @ 7:00 PM in the High School Library.
Prom Committee Craft Day
The Prom Committee will be having two craft days designed to finish some souvenirs and table decorations for Prom.  The dates were chosen by the Prom Committee:

Sunday, March 15th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Wednesday, March 18th, 4:00 - 6:00 PM

Students on Prom Committee must attend at least one of these craft days to receive their ticket at the reduced price.  Otherwise, the ticket price will increase $10.00.
Pre-K and Kindergarten Roundup
Edgewood ISD's Pre-K and Kindergarten Roundup for the 2015-2016 School Year will be March 26-27 and May 7-8.  Please click below for more information.

Prom
Save the date: Saturday, April 11th, 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM

The 2014-15 Junior/Senior Prom will be held at Reunion Ranch in Elmo (just west of Wills Point).

Prom tickets are now on sale!  For students that have their class dues paid by Friday, February 20th, tickets are $50.  You do not have to buy your ticket by this date, but you must have your dues paid by February 20th to lock in the price of $50.  If your dues are not paid by February 20th then your ticket will cost $65.

BOTH of the above prices will increase AFTER March the 20th.

PTO Mud Run with Moms
The PTO is sponsoring the First Annual Mud Run with Moms.  The event will be held Saturday, March 21st.  Registration will be from 8:00 - 9:00 AM.  The run will be from 9:00 - 11:00 AM.  There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and the cost is free.  T-shirts are available on-line.  Please click below for more information.

Yearbook Orders
There are about 7 school weeks left to order a yearbook for the 2014-2015 school year.  Orders are due by April 1st.  You may print the order form from the link below this message.  Turn the form and payment into your campus secretary.  Questions or concerns may be directed to Mrs. Spivey at tspivey@edgewood-isd.net.

ETCF Scholarship Opportunities
East Texas Communities Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2015-2016 academic year.  Please note that residency requirements listed as “ETCF Counties” includes Van Zandt County.  

All applications and supporting documents must be submitted electronically.  The deadline for submission is Monday, March 2, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.  A student may apply for every scholarship for which he or she meets the eligibility requirements.  Applicants must submit a unique application for each scholarship.

TVEC Scholarship Fund

Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative (TVEC) is proud to provide a scholarship to qualifying high school graduates.  Scholarship applicants must be high school seniors in the top 20% of the graduating class whose parents or legal guardians are members and receiving electric service from TVEC at their primary residence.  The application deadline for this scholarship is in accordance with your schools scholarship program.  Please use the following link for more details and to access the scholarship application.
