Halloween Carnival Announced
Edgewood High School is sponsoring the 2014 Annual Halloween Carnival. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th from 6 to 9 pm in downtown Edgewood. Many student organizations, along with some community organizations, will host various booths and activities including games, pictures with the bulldog, fire truck rides, a haunted house, and much more.
Parents, you have 48 hours to purchase your student's fall portraits online if they forgot to bring their order form and payment to the photographer. Go to www.mylifetouch.com and enter your 'Picture Day ID', which can be found on the order form. The High School's code for pictures taken Tuesday morning, 10/21, is HC504044Y0. Middle School pictures will be taken Wednesday morning, 10/22. You can pay for them online in advance as well. Please email Mrs. Spivey if you have any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
NHS Membership Induction Ceremony Announced
Becoming a member of the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Selection is based upon high standards of scholarship, character, service, and leadership.
Edgewood High School Faculty NHS Council has determined selection upon careful consideration of the candidate application form, teacher questionnaires, and any other pertinent information deemed necessary. As this years’ selection has been completed, we invite you to welcome these new inductees at a ceremony on Monday, Oct. 27th at 7:00 pm in the HS Commons area.
UIL Region 3 Marching Contest
The Edgewood High School, Sound of Pride, Marching Band will compete in the UIL Region 3 Marching Contest on Wednesday, October 22nd at 4:30 PM at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
Celebrate My Drive
Edgewood High School is participating in a program with State Farm Insurance which could result in us winning a grant of $100,000 and a free concert. We need help with this endeavor. Please help us by following the instructions on the attached flyer and commit to safe driving. Posting these instructions to your Facebook pages and sharing through email or word of mouth will spread the word and help tremendously. Any one in the US can vote. The contest is from October 15th - October 24th. Voters must be at least 14 years of age. Thank you for your help!

Red Ribbon Week
As in years past, Edgewood ISD, would like to show our support for Red Ribbon week by allowing our students to participate in "Dress Up Days". Below is a list of the themes for the week.
October 27th: United We Stand (Wear red, white and blue)
October 28th: Walk Out on Drugs & Bullying (Wear mixed match socks)
October 29th: Team Up Against Drugs & Bullying (Wear your favorite sports apparel)
October 30th: Drugs & Bullying Can't Find Us (Wear camo)
October 31st: Say Boo to Bullying & Drugs (Wear a Halloween shirt)
High School Pep Rally - October 17th
Due to the volleyball games being played in Winona and the teams having to leave early, the High School pep rally for October 17th has been moved to 10:25 AM during tutorials.
Students will be on regular bell schedule for the day.

Fall Picture Day
All EISD students and staff will have their photo taken for the yearbook on the following dates:
Primary and Intermediate: Tuesday, October 14th
High School: Tuesday, October 21st
Middle School: Wednesday, October 22nd
Dress to Impress!
Yearbook order forms went home with all students recently. You may order by filling out the form and returning it with your student or you may order online at www.balfour.com. The little book covers grades PK-5th and can be found by typing 'Edgewood Elementary Intermediate' into the search bar at Balfour. The big book covers grades 6th-12th and can be found by typing 'Edgewood High School'. Be sure to choose the school located in Edgewood, Texas. The online options are the same as the options listed on your order form. You can reserve your copy by making a 50% deposit at school with your order form. Please note that the price of the books will increase on December 15th. As long as you turn in your order form and a minimum 50% deposit by that date, you will not be charged the higher price. The 8th Grade Band will perform with the High School Band at the Varsity Football game at home on October 24th.
The Jazz Ambassadors from Washington D.C. will perform in Canton on November 5th at 7:30 PM at the Canton High School Auditorium. Please contact Mr. Potter before October 17th if you are interested in tickets. Tickets are free and open to the public. Transportation will not be provided.
College and Career Fair
Edgewood High School students are invited to attend the Wills Point High School College and Career Fair. It will be held on Tuesday, November 4th from 6pm-8pm at Wills Point High School. Many regional institutions will be in attendance to help students gather a wealth of college and career information. Please see Mrs. Hayes with questions.
The PSAT will be administered at Edgewood High School on Wednesday, October 15th. The test is open to all 10th and 11th grade students. The cost for the test is $14. Please see Mrs. Hayes to sign up and pick up your test prep guide. The deadline to sign up is Friday, October 10th.
The PSAT is an assessment that provides students with research-based College and Career Readiness Benchmarks, including critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills that are important for success in college.
