Today, Mrs. Schley was surprised and celebrated as she learned she had been selected as this year’s High School Teacher of the Year—a well-deserved honor for an educator who goes above and beyond for her students every single day.

“Denise’s impact isn’t just limited to her classroom; it extends to the students and families she serves. She maintains a positive and lasting influence on both students and parents through her dedication to their success. Parents appreciate her proactive communication and the genuine care she shows for their children’s academic progress and well-being. Whether it’s through extra help sessions, personalized instruction, or just a listening ear, Denise is a trusted partner in supporting her students.” 💜
High School Principal Mr. John Hohnstreiter shared:
“Denise is a wonderful teacher who makes connections to all of her students. She breaks down barriers of mathematics so her students understand difficult concepts. She routinely turns in high EOC Algebra scores and has a direct impact on our honor students as they move forward in their post-secondary education. Denise has served as a cheerleading sponsor, class sponsor, prom sponsor, and is active in FFA/Ag events and sponsorships while serving on the EHS FFA Booster Club and Edgewood Young Farmers.” 👏📚
All four campus Teachers of the Year will be recognized at the next Board of Trustees Meeting, where the Primary and Secondary Teachers of the Year who will advance to the Region 7 Teacher of the Year process will be announced.
