Ali Tyner

WELCOME HOME TO EDGEWOOD ISD, Mrs. Ali Tyner!! 🏠

Mrs. Tyner will be joining Edgewood Middle School as the 6th Grade ELAR Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. 🥳

We had a few minutes to sit down and talk with Mrs. Tyner and here is what we learned about our new family member. 🥰

💜 Where did you attend college and what degrees and/or certificates do you hold? I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler. I hold a Bachelor of Science in History with a Minor in English. I am certified to teach 6-12 Secondary ELA and 6-8 History/Social Studies.🎓

💜 How long have you been in education? I have been teaching for 23 years. 👩‍🏫🍎

💜 Tell us a little bit about your previous experience. Most of my teaching experience has been in a small school setting which has allowed me to teach multiple grade levels during my 23 years of experience. During the first several years of my career, I was primarily a high school English teacher. While I loved teaching high school, my true love is junior high. I have been teaching junior high English Language Arts (and Social Studies occasionally) for the last 14 years. 🏫

💜 What would you like to share about your family? I have been married to Scott Tyner (a 1990 graduate of Edgewood High School) for 27 years, and we have three sons. Andrew is 22 and will be graduating from Oklahoma State University in December with a business degree. Alex is 20 years old and will be a junior at Oklahoma State University in the fall. Aidan is 14 and will be a freshman at Edgewood High School. 🥰

💜 Would you like to share a fun fact? I am a direct descendent of a signer of The Declaration of Independence. 🖋️📜

💜 What do you enjoy outside of work? In the last few years, I have enjoyed thrifting and refinishing/repurposing furniture. I have had a life-long appreciation for books and like to read whenever I have spare time. I also enjoy traveling even though most of my traveling in the last several years has been to watch my boys play ball. 🛍️🪑📚✈️🏀

💜 Can you tell us why you CHOSE EDGEWOOD?I have been connected to the Edgewood Bulldog family through my family. My husband's nephews and niece are Bulldogs, and I have been able to follow the successes of Edgewood ISD through them for years. And with my husband coming back to his hometown as Superintendent, I am excited to share in the Bulldog story myself, and I am equally excited that our son, Aidan, gets to be a part of the purple and gold. I am looking forward to building new relationships with students and work colleagues as well as integrating myself in the Edgewood community. 💜🐾💛🐾🤍

Again, WELCOME HOME MRS. TYNER!! We are excited to have you join us at Edgewood ISD!! 💜🏡💜
