August 27, 2026
Good afternoon, Bulldog Family,
Edgewood ISD is strengthening communication with families by launching a new two-way messaging experience beginning tomorrow, August 28, 2026, in the district’s mobile app.
Families will be able to receive class and group updates, announcements, and direct messages from teachers and staff, all in one place: the Edgewood ISD App. This new feature enhances the mobile app experience, which already gives our entire community access to district news, events, calendars, menus, and more.
The district’s mobile app, powered by Apptegy, is free and available to the entire community. Simply search “Edgewood ISD Bulldogs” in the App Store or Google Play. Starting tomorrow evening, families will notice a new “Rooms” icon that will provide secure, two-way messaging right inside the app they already use.
Features include:
All messages in one inbox, including for families with multiple children.
Automatic text notifications for messages and announcements.
Secure messaging connecting families with teachers, counselors, and other staff.
Automatic translations in 100+ languages for greater accessibility.
Built-in safeguards, including message moderation and administrator visibility.
The best part is that all guardians are automatically enrolled and will begin receiving school updates and messages via text. Once logged in, guardians will be able to message staff, receive class announcements, and access updates in their preferred language, with no need to re-enroll each year or for each child.
Edgewood ISD’s website, mobile app, alerts, and now two-way messaging are all powered by Apptegy. Apptegy provides a complete platform that puts the district’s brand at the center of every communication. Streamlining these communication tools into one app will make it easier for families to know exactly where to find the information that matters.
If you have not downloaded the Edgewood ISD App, please take a moment to do so. Tomorrow afternoon expect a text asking you to opt in to this new line of communication.
Rooms will replace communication through Remind, ClassDojo, and Seesaw, allowing guardians to receive information for all of their students in one convenient location. Middle School and High School athletes will continue to use Rank One for athletic communication.
Edgewood ISD is excited to roll out this new communication tool and look forward to the positive impact it will have on communication with our families. As with anything new, we expect there may be a few bumps in the road as we get everything into place, and we appreciate your patience as everyone becomes familiar with the new system.
If you encounter any problems or have questions, please email communications@edgewood-isd.net.
Sincerely,
Lori Tolar
Chief of Staff, Edgewood ISD
