EDGEWOOD, TX – The Edgewood Middle School sixth-grade robotics team, Team 75117A, made an outstanding competitive debut on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Monsterbots VEX IQ Competition hosted by Miller Grove ISD.

Competing against 19 other teams, the young roboticists demonstrated exceptional teamwork, creativity, problem-solving skills, and determination as they put their classroom knowledge to the test in their first competitive robotics event.

Team 75117A earned a place among the top 10 teams, securing a spot in the competition finals. The Bulldogs went on to finish an impressive fourth place in the finals and earned seventh place in the Skills competition, marking a remarkable beginning to their competitive robotics journey.

Representing Edgewood Middle School were sixth-grade students A. Chen, L. Christensen, K. Cole, C. Girowall-Barakazi, and M. Johnson.

Throughout the competition, students showcased their knowledge of robotics, coding, engineering, and critical thinking. In addition to competing on the robotics field, team members participated in a judges' interview, where they had the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the design process, explain their strategies, and share what they had learned while preparing for the event.

The team's success reflects the dedication, preparation, and countless hours spent designing, building, programming, and refining their robot. Their ability to compete at such a high level during their very first competition speaks to both their hard work and the promising future of the Edgewood Middle School robotics program.

Beyond the impressive rankings, the experience provided students with valuable opportunities to collaborate, think creatively, overcome challenges, and develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Edgewood ISD is incredibly proud of these young innovators and their accomplishments. With a fourth-place finals finish and a seventh-place Skills ranking already under their belts, Team 75117A has established a strong foundation for continued growth and success throughout the robotics season.

Congratulations to Team 75117A on an outstanding first competition! The future of Edgewood Robotics is bright, and these Bulldogs are just getting started!
