WHITEHOUSE, TX – The Edgewood High School Sound of Pride delivered what may have been its best performance of the season on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the UIL Area Marching Contest in Whitehouse, Texas, capping off an impressive competitive marching season marked by tremendous growth, determination, and dedication.
Taking the field at 10:30 a.m., the Sound of Pride showcased the countless hours of preparation and hard work invested by its student musicians, color guard members, and directors. From the opening notes to the final steps, the band's performance reflected the progress made throughout the season and the commitment of every individual involved in the program.
Although the Sound of Pride did not advance to the finals, the band achieved a significant milestone by finishing higher in the Area competition than it did the previous year. The improvement represents an important step forward for the program and highlights the continued development of Edgewood High School's marching band.
The journey to Area began with a successful performance at the UIL Regional Marching Contest, where the Sound of Pride earned a superior rating of 1-1-2, qualifying the band to advance to the Area competition.
Building on that success, the students entered the Area contest determined to deliver their strongest performance yet. Their efforts were evident as they took the field with confidence, precision, and enthusiasm, demonstrating the results of months of rehearsals, adjustments, and dedication.
While advancing to the next round is always a goal, the accomplishments of the Sound of Pride extend far beyond competition rankings. The growth witnessed throughout the season reflects a program that continues to strengthen its foundation, raise expectations, and challenge students to reach new levels of excellence.
Every early morning rehearsal, every correction, every additional practice, and every moment spent perfecting their performance contributed to the progress made this year. The band's improvement in Area placement serves as a measurable reflection of that commitment.
For Edgewood ISD, the season represents much more than competitive results. It is a celebration of students learning the value of perseverance, teamwork, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence. These lessons will continue to benefit the young musicians long after the marching season has ended.
The district extends its appreciation to the Sound of Pride directors for their leadership, dedication, and commitment to developing the program, as well as to the families and community members who have supported the students throughout the season.
Although the competitive marching season has come to an end, the momentum created by this year's accomplishments provides an exciting outlook for the future.
The Edgewood High School Sound of Pride has demonstrated that success is not measured solely by trophies or advancement, but also by the progress made, the challenges overcome, and the foundation established for future generations of musicians.
With a higher Area finish than last year and a season filled with meaningful accomplishments, the Sound of Pride has given the Edgewood community plenty to celebrate.
The future of the Edgewood High School Sound of Pride is bright, and the best is yet to come.
