EDGEWOOD, TX – Some of the most memorable moments of Friday night football happen long before the opening kickoff. At Edgewood ISD, one special pregame tradition recently brought together young athletes, varsity football players, and cheerleaders in a celebration of community, school spirit, and Bulldog pride.
Members of the Edgewood Youth Sports Association (EYSA) had the opportunity to experience the excitement of Friday Night Lights firsthand as they ran onto the field alongside the Edgewood High School varsity football team and cheerleaders during the pregame tunnel run.
For the youngest Bulldogs, the experience was much more than simply running onto a football field. It was an opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with the older students they admire, experience the energy of a Friday night football game, and imagine themselves one day wearing the purple and gold as Edgewood High School athletes and cheerleaders.
For the varsity players and cheerleaders, the moment served as an important reminder of the influence they have on the next generation. As role models, their actions, attitudes, and commitment to their school help shape the dreams and aspirations of younger students who look up to them.
The tunnel run highlighted something that makes the Edgewood community special: the connection between generations of Bulldogs. From youth athletics to high school competition, students grow up supporting one another, building relationships, and participating in traditions that strengthen their sense of belonging.
At Edgewood ISD, Friday night football represents more than competition on the field. It brings families, former students, current students, and community members together in support of a shared tradition.
