Tracy Dawson

WELCOME HOME TO EDGEWOOD ISD, Coach Tracy Dawson!! 🏠

Coach Dawson will be joining the family as the Edgewood Independent School District HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH for the 2025-2026 school year. 🥳

We had a few minutes to sit down and talk with Coach Dawson and here is what we learned about our new family member. 🥰

💜 Briefly explain your experience. I have been in education for 27 years, coaching in a variety of Head Coaching and Assistant Coaching roles on both the girls and the boys sides 🏐🏀. I have been extremely fortunate in volleyball to be part of 7 teams that have made it to the regional volleyball tournament 🏆 and 2 teams that made it to the State Tournament 🥇. Those 2 teams my youngest daughter played on 👧. I am excited to get the opportunity to work with these great young ladies and continue to build on the great tradition at Edgewood 💪💜.

💜 What does this opportunity mean to you? The opportunity to get to be a Head Volleyball Coach is very exciting to me 🔥. I am looking forward to getting to Edgewood and starting to get to know the girls and coaching staff and begin building next year's Volleyball team 🏐📣.

💜 What are your goals? As far as goals are concerned, right now it's getting to know the girls and coaches and start developing a plan for this upcoming season 📋. Every year is a new year, new athletes but still the same expectations of being a contender and continuing to meet the expectations of being the best we can be this upcoming year 💪🌟. All those goals and expectations start with the summer workouts and working on becoming better athletes and teammates 🏋️‍♀️🤝.

💜 Our main hashtag is #EdgewoodByChoice so, why did you choose Edgewood? And what does Edgewood mean to you? I started my coaching in 1997 in Mabank; Edgewood was one of the schools that I just remember being one of those I said I would love to coach there one day 🎯. So, #EdgewoodByChoice was really just that 💜. I wanted to be here and plus it gets me closer to 3 of my kids that live in Dallas 🏙️ and closer to my oldest son and his wife and 3 grandkids in Arkansas 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. Big bonus for me getting to see all my kids and grandkids more often 💜👴.

💜 Anything else you want to share with Bulldog Nation? I grew up on a farm in Cotton Center, Texas 🚜🌾. Graduated with 12 people from the same High School my Mother and Grandmother did and graduated from Wayland Baptist University 🎓. My Mom, 2 brothers and my sister all still live in that area 🏡. I have been married to my beautiful wife Danna for 31 years 💜💍 and we have 4 kids: Aaron, Danielle, Conner and Baily 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. We have a daughter-in-law Alley and a son-in-law Benton and 3 grandkids, Atwood, Arch, and Betty 🧒👶. I have had a very blessed life 🙏, and we are excited to move forward in this next adventure in Edgewood 💜🌟.

Again, WELCOME HOME Coach Dawson!!! We are excited to have you join us at Edgewood ISD!! 💜🏡💜
