And this morning looked a whole lot like Football Fridays have looked for many years around here.
Before the school day even got rolling, our Varsity Football players and Cheerleaders were spread across campus, opening doors, greeting our younger Bulldogs, sharing breakfast, giving high-fives, posing for pictures, and making sure plenty of smiles started the day. 💜💛
These pictures are what tradition looks like.
Our youngest Bulldogs looking up to the big kids in purple and gold. Our older students taking the time to make a little Bulldog’s morning. Football players standing at car doors and campus entrances. Cheerleaders welcoming students inside. And a whole lot of memories being made before the first bell ever rings. 🐾
Because around here, Football Friday means more.
There will always be outside noise. There will always be opinions. There will always be someone with something to say about what happens under those Friday night lights. And yes, when that scoreboard hits zero tonight, there will be a final score.
But Edgewood is bigger than the noise. Bigger than the opinions. And this tradition means more than any number on a scoreboard.
It’s the little Bulldog whose face lights up when a varsity player opens the car door. It’s eating breakfast with kids who might wear that same purple jersey one day. It’s cheerleaders welcoming students to school with a smile. It’s older Bulldogs understanding that somebody younger is watching how they carry themselves.
We are Edgewood. 💜💛
Tonight, they’ll put on the uniforms and represent Edgewood under the Friday night lights. This morning, they represented Edgewood in a way that matters just as much.
This is community.
This is tradition.
This is Bulldogs taking care of Bulldogs.
And THAT is what Football Friday in Edgewood is all about.
