Edgewood FFA hosted the 3rd Annual Public Speaking Contest with around 78 entries from neighboring schools to schools that drove 2 plus hours away. We want to thank each FFA chapter and their members for coming and participating in our contest as they prepare for district and area competition. We want to thank all the judges who volunteered their time to come and listen to each student in their contest and give feedback to help them prepare. We want to thank Mrs. Seale and her food science class for preparing another awesome meal for our contest hospitality room. WELCOME (back) HOME TO EDGEWOOD ISD, Coach Austin Jones!! 🏠 Coach Jones will be joining the Edgewood Middle School family as a Middle School Special Education Teacher and a Coach. 🥳 We had a few minutes to sit down and talk with Coach Jones and here is what we learned about our new family member. 🥰 💜 Where did you attend college and what degrees and/or certificates do you hold? I hold a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Hardin Simmons University that I received in 2020, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from East Texas Baptist University in 2019. 👩‍🎓 💜 How long have you been in education? I have been in education since 2020, with experience in teaching and coaching across multiple districts including Elkhart ISD, Edgewood ISD, and Forney ISD. 👩‍🏫 💜 Tell us a little bit about your previous experience. I've taught Professional Communications and U.S. History at the High School level while coaching football, track, and basketball. I have also spent time at the collegiate level as a graduate assistant coach assisting the offensive linemen. 🏫 💜 What would you like to share about your family? I'm married to my amazing wife, Crystal, who works as a nurse at Childrens. She has a huge heart for helping others and might love the Friday Night Lights a little more than me at times! We have a beautiful, fun, and energetic 3 year old daughter named Hallie Ray who keeps us on our toes and is always the life of any party.👩‍❤️‍👨👧 💜 What do you enjoy outside of work? Outside of work, I enjoy keeping up with all sports, playing golf and cornhole, and spending quality time with family and friends. ⛳🏈🏀 💜 Can you tell us why you CHOSE EDGEWOOD? #EdgewoodByChoice means alot to me. I am more than excited to have the chance to come back to Edgewood. This place is a place where I have built my strongest connections and felt like part of the family. I look forward to working with familiar faces and getting back to making a difference for our students both in the classroom and on the field.
